PENGLIPURAN TRADITIONAL VILLAGE, it has a cool air as it nestles some 700 meters above sea level. From hostorical point of view an according to the village elders, the word "Penglipuran" has come from the word "Pengeling Pura" means a holy place to remember ancentors. This village can be reached by the road connecting Bangli and Kintamani District. If a guest scales the road to Kubu, some 5 kms from the town of Bangli and then turns left, they will arrive at Penglipuran and be welcomed warmly by the residents of village. This means so much since Penglipuran's villagers' ancentors came from Bayung Gede Village of Kintamani, which is guite far. Therefore then, the people of Penglipuran established a temple similar to the one in Bayung Gede Village. This means Penglipuran's residents remain having the knowledge of their origin. It has less than a thousand people, relying mostly upon agriculture as the source of incomes, just a view of them working as civil servants. Dances and handicrafts are developed well in this remote village. Other opinion said that "Penglipuran" came from the word "Penglipur" meaning "entertaining" as during feudalism era, the place is used for a place to have a break royal family. What makes the village special is its preserved traditional houses, make it different compared to other villages.
