Kehen Temple


KEHEN TEMPLE nesties on the southern slope of Bangli Hill, some 2 kms from the town of Bangli. As a historical temple, it is worth visiting where you will be lead by some steps to see many parts of the temple. Kehen Temple is one of Bali's old temples that has housed three bronze-made manuscripts. The followers worshipping at the teple are the surrounding the people.
Ngusaba ceremony that takes place on Balinese calender of "Budha Kliwon Shinta" is held once in three years, falling on the so-called "Purnama Kelima" (arround November). The temple can be reached by any mode of transports through a nice road or just by a short walk from Giri Kusuma Cultural Park.
The word "Kehen" is derived from "Keren" meaning flame. Previously it was known as "Hyang Api".
